Meet Katarina

I’m Katarina, the founder of the unique ‘Inner Compass’ method, which has helped hundreds of international professionals live more meaningful and purposeful lives.

My holistic life coaching programmes stem from a combination of my training as both a life coach and psychotherapist, the transformations I’ve witnessed in my clients, and my learnings from mentors and my own life experiences.

In my mid-30s, I was at the pinnacle of my career as a photojournalist, with my articles being published on the front pages of the International Herald Tribune and The New York Times. But despite this outward success, I realized that my life needed a radical change.

On the surface, my life seemed glamorous, but I was slowly burning out. I didn’t like the person I had become, or how I was treating others. I had lost sight of what truly mattered to me. That was the beginning of my own exploration into what was blocking me from living in alignment with my values and reclaiming my vitality.
I’ve learned what truly works to pull ourselves out of burnout, especially when we fall into the ‘go-go-go’ mindset and lose touch with what’s important. I know that trying to “hold it all together” only leads to burnout—I’ve been there.

My 1:1 coaching programmes are for those who’ve reached their breaking point, saying “enough is enough,” and are ready to commit to the transformative work ahead. When you’re at a crossroads, focus and accountability are key, and that’s where I come in.

About my Approach

Is it important to have done personal development work prior to starting life coaching with you?

No, you don’t need any prior experience. If you haven’t done any work before, I suggest you sign up for the 6-month coaching programme: Transform your life.

I see that you work with a lot of women, are you working with men too?

Yes, I work with men too. If you’re unsure if I have experience with the topics you want to work on, please book a call with me.

What’s the difference between coaching and therapy?

Life coaching and psychotherapy are both wonderful tools for personal development. They both help you understand yourself better and they both have therapeutic potential—but they differ in focus and approach.

In short, the main difference between life coaching and psychotherapy is that life coaching focuses on unlocking potential, achieving life objectives and taking steps towards a fulfilling personal and professional life, while psychotherapy focuses on treating mental health conditions such as trauma, dysfunction, anxiety, depression, panic attacks and burnout. You can read more about the differences here.

Can you guarantee it will work?

I can’t promise you that you’ll have the outcome you want. Why? Because the success depends on you. I can promise you that I will give you the tools and support you need to succeed. But it’s up to you to put in the effort of following my steps and integrating what you learn into your life, between sessions.

Are the online sessions as effective and transformational as the in-person sessions?

It all depends on your preference and what you’re most comfortable with. I find that online sessions can definitely be as deep and effective as the in-person sessions and many of my clients report the same.

Can I talk to you before starting the programme?

Yes, I offer a free, 30-minute online consultation so we can see if we are a good match as a coach and client. You also have the chance to share what you want to work on, and I will give you an idea of how we can work together.

Do you offer single sessions?

No, I don’t offer single sessions. My coaching programmes start at 3 months. But I do offer a free consultation for you to decide if my way of coaching and my programmes are for you.

How long will it take before I see results?

This varies from person to person. Factors such as where you are in your personal development journey, in your career, in your personal life and how much time you are willing to invest in the process all play a part in determining how long it will take. It can take as little as 3 months or as many as 24 months to achieve the results you’re looking for.

When is the right time to start?

Now! There is no such thing as the ‘right’ time. It’s never going to be the perfect time. Taking one small step is better than staying in a place where you don’t feel fulfilled. With that said, the coaching process requires that you have energy and time to implement all you learn in the sessions. If you’re unsure if now is the right time, book a consultation and I will help you make a decision.

Can I work with you even if I don’t know what I want?

Yes, many of my clients come to me because they have lost sight of what they truly want. It’s easy to follow everybody else’s advice, from parents and friends to partners and colleagues, and we can get lost in all the noise. I’m here to help you look behind all the layers of shoulds and musts and discover what it is that you actually want.

If you don’t know what you want but you know you want to leave the place where you are now, I recommend the 6-month programme: Transform your life.

Where do I start if I don’t know my passion or purpose in life?

Words like ‘passion’ and ‘purpose’ can give us a lot of anxiety. We think there is something wrong with us because we haven’t found our passion or purpose, that there is something out there we need to find, and as long as we haven’t found it we feel like a failure. What if your purpose is to find joy in your everyday life? I help my clients discover what gives them meaning in their professional and personal lives right now, and then start doing more of that. That often leads to a life full of passion and purpose!

How do I know if you are the right coach for me?

You can’t know 100% that I will be the right coach for you. During the consultation you have the opportunity to ask me anything you want about the programmes and about me as a coach. I also suggest you read my testimonials to get an idea what other clients say about working with me. Then, you just need to trust your gut and make a decision that feels right for you.

If at anytime during the programme you’re not happy with my content or my approach, please let me know! I’m here to support you and I don’t shy away when you want more or less of something. My job is to support you and your personal growth!

About my Programmes

I have done a lot of personal development work already, what makes your coaching programmes different?

Many of my clients who have previously experienced coaching and therapy have shared that this experience was different—that they were finally able to understand what was standing in their way, and as a result, were able to move forward toward the life they envisioned for themselves.

The programmes I’ve created are based on my learnings from over 10 years as a coach, combined with insights gained from various coaching trainings and my psychotherapy practice. The tools I’ve developed are designed to help you get unstuck and view your situation from a fresh perspective, both personally and professionally. The work we do together is highly personal, and doing it one-on-one, as opposed to in a group, allows you to open up more freely while giving you my full attention.

What results can I expect?

The outcome of the programme depends on many factors, including where you are right now in your life, how much time you have to put in and how willing you are to do the work personal development requires. From my experience, clients who have achieved the most satisfying results are the ones who showed up fully present to every session, did their homework and integrated what they learned into their everyday lives. I always say that if you are really committed to changing what’s not working for you, you have done half the work already!

What if I need more time after completing a programme?

I offer two different programmes, but I’m also flexible in my approach. If you feel you need more sessions, you can always add a bundle of 6 sessions to each programme. Some of my clients continue monthly meetings with me after they finish a programme. They find that after reaching their desired outcome, it is beneficial that I continue to hold them accountable and support them with challenges that arise from implementing changes in their lives. Towards the end of the programme we always discuss if you need further support.

How will the coaching sessions work?

While I take everyone through the same method, the actual coaching varies greatly. During the first goal-setting session we decide which areas you want to work on and I design the programme based on that decision.

I will introduce you to tools and exercises, which form the basis of the programme. At each session we will use one of these tools to work on the actual issue or problem you have present that day.

What happens if I have to travel for work and I miss a session?

If you can’t make a session because of a work trip, I will do my best to offer you a make-up session outside of our normal bi-weekly schedule.
