Doing All the Right Things—and Still Not Feeling Successful?

Published on Feb 1, 2025

If you’re exhausted trying to optimize every area of your life and still feel behind, this post is for you. Let’s break down the myths of modern productivity and talk about what success actually looks like—when it’s aligned with your soul.

Why Optimizing Your Life Isn’t the Answer

I work with so many women—typically in their 30s and 40s—who are motivated, accomplished, and have achieved a lot in their careers. From the outside, their lives look great. But internally? Something feels off. Unfulfilling. Like it’s never quite enough.

Many of my clients come to me saying, “Something is missing.” And their first instinct is to look externally for solutions: a new job, a new routine, another course or certification.

Meanwhile, social media tells us that success means meditating, journaling, eating clean, running a business, and having the perfect morning and evening routine. But this kind of perfection isn’t just fake—it’s toxic.

When we see curated images of “ideal” women thriving in every domain, we internalize an impossible standard. Suddenly, success isn’t just about meaningful work—it’s about cold plunges, green smoothies, and inbox zero.

It’s exhausting. And deeply distracting.

Many women go from corporate burnout to wellness burnout—chasing a different version of the same never-ending to-do list.

The Myth of Doing It All

You don’t have to do cold plunges or quit your job to be successful. You have permission to do less. To move slower. To choose what works for you.

Trying to “do it all” often disconnects us from our real values. It becomes about performance, not purpose. Success doesn’t require hustle—it requires intention, and taking one small step at a time.

How I Built a Soul-Aligned Routine

(In Under 30 Minutes a Day)

A few years ago, I started small. Starting small matters more than we think. It builds the muscle of self-trust—the quiet confidence that we can show up for ourselves, even in tiny ways. And just like with physical strength, consistency beats intensity every time.

This is the simple routine I started with each day:

  • 15 minutes of yoga
  • 5 minutes of somatic release
  • Slow breakfast, no phone
  • A spoonful of apple cider vinegar
  • Morning coffee on the balcony

That’s it. Nothing dramatic. But over time, these small acts anchored me. They weren’t about perfection—they were about improving my mental and physical health one step at a time. And that changed everything.

Why Don’t I Feel Successful?

Here’s the truth: if you’re doing everything “right” and still feel unfulfilled, you may be out of alignment.

How you’re living your life and spending your time doesn’t match your core values—what actually matters most to you. Things may be out of balance. You might be giving your energy to work, relationships, or obligations, while neglecting the parts of yourself that need nourishment.

This is especially common for high-achieving women. Over time, it’s easy to lose touch with your creative self, your rest, your joy. And suddenly, even success feels hollow.

What to Do When Motivation Disappears

At the start of this year, I felt completely unmotivated. I scrolled more. I ignored my to-do list. And I didn’t beat myself up for it. Why? Because I knew it was temporary.

I didn’t make myself wrong. I got curious. And I reminded myself that even in the pause, I was still valuable.

Here’s what helped me move through it:

  • I went on regular walks
  • I spent weekend evenings in the jacuzzi and sauna
  • I allowed myself to cry when I needed to—without judgment
  • I prioritized my well-being and released the pressure
  • I talked to close friends

Start Here: Your First Micro Habit

Pick one tiny habit. Not ten. Just one. It might be a five-minute morning stretch. A real lunch break. Ten deep breaths before your next Zoom call. Small acts of care build trust. Trust builds momentum. And momentum creates change.

If you’re feeling stuck in your career—like you’ve checked all the boxes but still feel unfulfilled—you’re not alone. It’s not that you’re lazy or ungrateful. It’s that your soul is asking for more. Not more hustle, but more alignment. More clarity. More you.
